At BARE Skin Surrey We use two types of technology for hair removal SHR (Super Hair Removal) and IPL (Intense Pulse Light).

The energy in the laser is attracted to the melanin in the hair, the darker the hair is, the more effective the treatment. The applicator is placed onto the skin and the light energy is absorbed into the hair causing a heat reaction to destroy the follicle.

Hair growth works in cycles.  There are 3 different cycles

Anagen – the new hair is growing and is connected to a blood supply at the base of the follicle. During this phase, your hair follicles are pushing out hairs that will continue to grow until they’re cut or until they reach the end of their lifespan and fall out.

It is the longest phase and can last anywhere between 2-6 years on your head!

Catagen – This phase starts when the anagen phase ends, and tends to last about 10 days or so. During this chapter, hair follicles shrink and hair growth slows. The hair also separates from the bottom of the hair follicle and blood supply, yet remains in place during its final days of growing.

Telogen – The telogen phase typically lasts around 3 months. Hairs don’t grow during the telogen phase, but they don’t usually fall out either. The telogen phase is also when new hairs start to form in follicles that have just released hairs during the catagen phase.

Hair grows to different lengths at different times all over our body.  The laser works on hair that is in the anagen stage of growth as it is connected to a blood supply.

Does laser hair removal hurt?

Laser Hair Removal is described as feeling like the flick of an elastic band. The more sessions you have, the less pain you feel as there are fewer hair follicles targeted.

How long does it last ?

Most of our clients see a permanent result of up to 90% reduction in hair growth. Results are dependent on hair type and colour and permanent hair reduction that lasts can be achieved.

Benefits of hair laser removal.

  • With a permanent reduction in growth an average of 75%. The hair will be finer, lighter and much slower growing with the additional benefit of smoother skin.
  • By shaving far less often you will never need to worry about seeing a hair shadow or prickly legs again.
  • The money you spend on waxing over time and the toll it takes on the skin makes hair removal a way to maintain your skin's health and save money in the long run.
  • Hair removal on the face will take away the dark shadow and improve skin tone. Reducing the need to wax, shave and pluck.  Reduces embarrassment and the need to constantly use make up to cover the shadow.
  • Ingrown hair can completely go after having a course of laser hair removal- no more painful waxing sessions and subsequent scarring.

How long is course of treatment?

The amount of treatments needed can vary but as a guide we say between 6- 10 sessions.

Where can you have hair removed ?

Hair can be removed from almost any area of the body, the hair needs to be mid/dark in colour .. we can not remove white, blond, grey or red hair as the light is attracted to the melanin/colour in the hair.
